Hey green thumbs and microgreens munchers,

Sprouties is going to a farmer's market! Cue confetti! And no, this isn't déjà vu. You might recall our previous attempts; our first market in July? Canceled. Because who knew the AZ sun had a vendetta against microgreens?! Two weeks later, my brand spanking new AC in the grow room thought it’d be fun to go on vacation... Yup, our crops threw in the towel that week. Talk about a heated situation.

BUT, as the old saying goes, "If at first you don’t succeed, blame the sun and then try again!"

We're all set to put our roots down at Eastmark Farmer's Market in Mesa this Saturday from 8am to 11. As long as Mother Nature and our air conditioning play nice, you’ll find us showcasing the crème de la crème of microgreens. On our tantalizing roster are sunflowers, broccoli, red cabbage, red kale, kohlrabi, spicy salad mix, and the zesty radish microgreens.

BUT WAIT! There's more! Introducing... drumroll, please... our brand new Nutra-Salt! An impeccable blend of dehydrated microgreens and pink Himalayan salt. Perfect for when your dishes need that extra sprinkle of health and flavor!

Join us this Saturday, share a laugh over our misadventures, and stock up on your green goodies. And if we’re not there? Well, you know who to blame. 😂

Keep it green and see you soon,

Kim

Hello to our fabulous community of microgreen enthusiasts and aspiring young horticulturists!

It's Kim here, the proud owner of Sprouties Microgreens, and I'm absolutely thrilled to announce our latest venture. We're branching out beyond our farm and entering the world of online education. Yes, you heard that right! Sprouties Microgreens will now be offering online classes on the fantastic learning platform, Outschool!

If you're not familiar with Outschool, let me paint you a picture. It's an innovative online learning platform that connects passionate educators with curious learners worldwide. With thousands of unique, small-group classes, it's a place where learners aged 18 and under can dive into subjects they're passionate about.

Our Outschool courses will be designed to introduce young learners to the vibrant world of microgreens, from the biology behind their growth to the hands-on experience of cultivating their own miniature greens at home. The classes will include a range of topics, such as understanding the benefits of microgreens, learning how to grow them, experimenting with different growing mediums, and even incorporating them into delicious recipes!

As a former science teacher with over two decades of experience, I believe in the power of experiential learning. These classes are an opportunity to blend science, nutrition, and hands-on gardening experience into a fun and engaging learning journey. It's about fostering a love for nature, encouraging healthy eating habits, and inspiring the next generation of growers.

And the best part? These classes can be accessed from anywhere, making it an ideal learning experience for young, aspiring gardeners, regardless of where they are based.

As we launch these classes on Outschool, our aim is to spark curiosity, cultivate skills, and encourage a hands-on approach to learning. We want to inspire young minds to connect with nature, appreciate the food they eat, and understand the journey of a seed becoming a plant.

This is an exciting new chapter for us at Sprouties Microgreens, and we can't wait to share our love for microgreens with the next generation of growers. Stay tuned for more details about our upcoming classes, and do check out our offerings on Outschool!

Let's sprout the seeds of knowledge together!

Warm regards,

Kim

Greetings, fellow microgreen enthusiasts!

As the proud owner of Sprouties Microgreens, I've had my fair share of adventures in the world of microgreens cultivation. One aspect that never fails to spark debate among growers is the choice of the ideal growing medium. Today, I want to shed some light on why coco coir has earned its spot as a preferred medium for growing microgreens, and why it's worth considering over traditional soil.

Round 1: Practicality and Cleanliness

Let's talk about practicality. Coco coir, derived from the fibrous husk of coconuts, is lightweight and easy to handle. Unlike soil, it doesn't create a mess or compact, ensuring a clean and efficient growing experience. Working with coco coir is a breeze, allowing you to focus on what truly matters – the growth of your microgreens.

Round 2: Water Retention and Consistency

One of the key challenges in microgreens cultivation is maintaining the right level of moisture. Soil can sometimes be unpredictable, either holding onto water like a sponge or becoming too dry too quickly. Coco coir, on the other hand, boasts excellent water retention properties, providing a consistent environment for your microgreens to thrive.

Round 3: Neutral pH and Customized Nutrition

Microgreens are incredibly sensitive to their growing environment, especially when it comes to pH levels. Coco coir offers a neutral pH, providing an excellent base that allows you to customize and fine-tune the nutrient levels to meet the specific needs of your microgreens. This level of control fosters optimal growth and maximizes their nutrient potential.

Round 4: Pest Resistance and Clean Crop

As a responsible grower, one of your primary concerns is keeping pests at bay. Coco coir has inherent pest resistance, minimizing the risk of infestations and allowing you to focus on nurturing your microgreens. Additionally, this medium results in a cleaner crop, reducing the likelihood of contaminants and ensuring the highest quality of your harvest.

Round 5: Sustainability and Environmental Friendliness

As stewards of the earth, sustainability is of utmost importance to us at Sprouties Microgreens. Coco coir shines in this arena, as it is an eco-friendly option. Derived from a renewable resource – coconut husks – it is biodegradable and can be recycled into compost, making it a planet-friendly choice for conscientious growers.

Final Verdict: Coco Coir, the Champion of Microgreens Cultivation

There you have it – a clear and informed perspective on why coco coir has secured its place as an exceptional growing medium for microgreens. While soil has its merits, coco coir offers practicality, consistency, pH neutrality, pest resistance, and a sustainable approach to cultivation.
